Low-cost iPhone will be like a plastic iPhone 5, claims story

Apple ‘s low-cost iPhone will look like the iPhone 5, take some cues from the iPod Touch and the iPod classic, and switch to a plastic body.

At least, that’s the latest scuttlebut from the folks at iLounge. Citing the usual “reliable sources,” the blog site claims the new model will be a cross between the iPhone 5, the fifth-generation iPod Touch, and the iPod Classic.

Well, it’s official.

The new iPhone is the iPhone 5, and many of the rumors proved to be true: bigger screen, 4G LTE, and a faster processor — all good stuff, to be sure.

The iPhone 5 will leave a trail of winners and losers across the mobile technology landscape, says J.P. Morgan analyst Mark Moskwitz.

Apple legal win will boost iPhone 5 market share, says analyst

Apple ‘s iPhone 5 will be one beneficiary of the company’s legal win against Samsung.

On Friday, a jury found that Samsung had infringed on several mobile device patents owned by the iPhone maker, awarding Apple more than $1 billion in damages.

What will the next iPhone be called?

Real or fake, alleged images of the next iPhone continue to hit the blogosphere.

When Apple released the latest iPad earlier this year, Phil Schiller, Apple ‘s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, said that naming the device iPad 3 would have been so predictable. “We’ve had many products where we’ve never used numbers,” Schiller said. “Sometimes we do, sometimes we don’t.”
