Grant Paul a.k.a chpwn – iOS developer and hacker, who has released
, which brought some cool multitasking gestures to the iPhone and iPod touch to access multitasking tray or to switch between apps.
chpwn has just released a new version of Zephyr, which includes the following changes:
(note that it doesn’t close an app but it takes you to the home screen, it has the same effect as tapping on the Home button)
Quickly horizontally swipe between many different apps.
Pause while swiping up to quickly show the multitasking switcher.
Improved performance and many bug fixes.
With the latest update, Zephyr will be very helpful for users who have an iOS device with a broken or less responsive Home button. It is also a cool way to reduce the wear and tear of the Home button.
Zephyr is available on Cydia for $2.99.
As always, let us know what you think of the new features in the comments.

Jay Freeman a.k.a
has just released a new version Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether jailbreak (v1.0-7) to fix the DRM iBooks issue.
. But the Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether update that is available on Cydia is an easier option.
announced the availability of Corona iOS 5.0.1 on Twitter:
Corona 1.0-6: @planetbeing put a lot of work into solving iBooks image loading bugs. All users (however jailbroken) on 5.0.1 should install.
However, there was some dependency issue, which he soon corrected and released Corona 1.0-7.
@planetbeing wrote a utility called “crazeles” that overcomes jailbreak detection by iBooks that would cause about 10% of images to show incorrectly. This fix is similar to the “hunnypot” fix that @comex wrote for the 4.x jailbreak.
Saurik has recommended all users (except for iPhone 3GS with older bootrom) who have jailbroken their iOS device, which includes iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (except for iPhone 3GS with older bootrom), iPad 2, iPad 1, iPod touch 3rd gen, iPod touch 4th gen to install the latest version of Corona 5.0.1 jailbreak from Cydia. So it basically means that it doesn’t matter if you’ve used
to jailbreak your iOS device, one can install the Corona 1.0-7 jailbreak.
Please note that it is always a good idea to take a backup of your iOS device before proceeding as a number of users have reported issues after installing previous Corona jailbreak updates.
If the iBooks DRM issue doesn’t bother you then we would suggest holding off updating to the new version until you see positive feedback in the comments.
We installed Corona 1.0-7 on an iPhone 4S jailbroken using Absinthe jailbreak and iPod touch 4G using Redsn0w. We didn’t hit any issue on the iPod touch 4G. However, iPhone 4S initially went into safe mode after installing the update. Things have been fine after rebooting the iPhone again.

has just reported that UK Operator O2 is sending user’s phone numbers in the header information when you visit a website over O2′s 3G network.
The issue was brought to our attention to Lewis Peckover, who created a simple webpage to check the information that a mobile browser would send to a website when it requested data.
Whilst most of the data was to be expected, including the Host, User Agent, Referrer and Encoding, there was also another field in the results — x-up-calling-line-id.
What is x-up-calling-line-id? Your mobile phone number.
TNW also tested this out on their iPhone on O2′s network and they received the following results, which included the phone number.
TNW reports that O2 hasn’t responded to them though they’re telling users on Twitter that they’re actively looking into the problem.
We’re investigating this with our internal teams, and will come back with more as soon as we can
O2 is one of Apple ‘s iPhone partner in the UK and was the first operator in the UK to offer Apple ‘s iPhone .
If you’re on O2′s network then we would strongly recommend you to visit only trusted websites until the issue is resolved.
@JerryWSL @iphonehackx it’s our top priority – we’re investigating this at the moment. Once we’ve got an update, we’ll let you know.

, Chronic Dev Team has also updated Absinthe for Mac v0.2 for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users to fix VPN and white icon bugs.
The latest version of Absinthe fixes the issue where some users complained that their iPhone 4S / iPad 2 did not reboot at the end of the jailbreak process even after using the VPN trick.
Absinthe v0.2 also fixes the issue where some users had complained that some of the app icons were white after jailbreaking their iOS device with Absinthe, though the apps worked fine.
“…Mac version updated. v0.2: Tries to fix no reboot after activating VPN/tapping Absinthe icon. We also tried to fix white icons on SpringBoard after jb.”
planetbeing has said that rerunning the updated version if you’ve successfully jailbroken your iOS device is pointless.
iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0, 5.0.1 (9A405 and 9A406)

, iPhone Dev team has now released an updated version of Redns0w – Redsn0w 0.9.10b4, which includes the fix for the iBooks issue and launchd socket issue, which was randomly causing some issues.
The b4 version of redsn0w incorporates the 5.0.1 fix for iBooks, and also for sporadic problems with launchctl. Thanks to @xvolks for merging the iBooks (sandbox) fix from @comex’s github into the overall corona untether from @pod2g! As usual, you can choose to install the fix either by re-running redsn0w over your existing jailbreak (de-select Cydia if you do that), or by installing the corona package from Cydia (it’s the same set of files no matter which way you choose).
If auto-detection fails and redsn0w tells you no identifying data was found, you can always pre-select the
using “Extras->Select IPSW”.
Redsn0w 0.9.10b4
for Windows.
If you’ve already jailbroken your iOS device using Redns0w 0.9.10 then the easiest method is to install the
from Cydia.
In case you need help, you can checkout our step by step guides to perform untethered jailbreak using Redsn0w, which have also been updated with the latest download links:
