An Apple employee said that the version of the new iPad that is being tested inside the company is “essentially the same size and shape as the iPad 2,” with an improved and “truly amazing” screen. The tablet will include a faster processor, said the employee, who did not want to be identified because Apple is not fond of leaks.
This is in-line with rumors and leaked iPad 3 parts, which have indicated that Apple ‘s highly anticipated
will come with Retina Display, but look similar to iPad 2.
has published a photo of a Sharp LCD screen, which they claim will be used for iPad 3.
We can’t wait to get our hands on an iPad 3 with Retina Display. What about you?

, which advertises its network as being the only one to offer a
unlimited data plan, throttles the data speeds of smartphone users that consume excessive data on its partner networks while roaming.
”For those that want to abuse it, we can knock them off,” Hesse said at an investor conference Thursday. He said Sprint pares back data use for about 1% of users, a practice known as throttling.
. The two companies throttle data speeds for top 5 percent users, irrespective of their roaming status.
Sprint reserves the right, without notice, to limit throughput speeds, and to deny, terminate, modify, disconnect or suspend service if off-network usage in a month exceeds: (1) voice: 800 min. or a majority of minutes; or (2) data: 300 megabytes or a majority of kilobytes. Prohibited network use rules apply. See in-store materials or sprint.com/termsandconditions for specific prohibited uses.
The policy, despite the clarification, is in contrast with Sprint’s advertising pitch, which says:
“Truly Unlimited Data for your iPhone . The only national carrier with no throttling, no metering, no overages”
No doubt that it affects only a subset of Sprint customers who are frequent travelers, but when a company says its network is
, it’s expected that no shady conditions are attached to it.
Even with this policy, Sprint remains the only U.S.
.
, both killed such plans, letting new users opt for tiered data plans instead.
Sprint, as
notes, killed unlimited data plans for tablets and data cards a while ago, raising doubts whether the smartphone data plan would follow similar fashion. And with reports saying, ”
,” these doubts definitely hold weight.
,

However, is A4 really the
that it is made out to be? In a recent article, Jon Stokes from
questions the acclaimed superiority of the A4 chip and makes an argument against it.
According to his sources, the A4 chip is a 1GHz SoC made of a single Cortex A8 core and PowerVR SGX GPU and not a dual-core Cortex A9 chip as originally thought. This would make it comparable to the chips present on many of the modern day smartphones and hence is nothing revolutionary. Jon Stakes also claims that the iPad's leaner hardware that does not include resource-guzzling parts like a camera makes the A4 chip run faster than it would on smartphones with these features present. Stokes writes:
“With one 30-pin connector on the bottom and no integrated camera of any kind, the A4 needs a lot less in the way of I/O support than comparable chips that are intended for smartphones or smartbooks. This means that the A4 is just a GPU, a CPU, memory interface block (NAND and DDR), possibly security hardware, system hardware, and a few I/O controllers. It's lean and mean to a degree that isn't possible with an off-the-shelf SoC.”
“. He says that in the absence of a ”
” with A4, a revelation of its specs could divert the focus from features present on the iPad to what is not on the A4.
These arguments make sense, but at the end of the day, people who got a chance to play around with the iPad found it to be very responsive and a different league compared to the iPhone .
So does it really matter if it is really revolutionary or not, if it delivers great performance? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
