AT&T To Add Additional 2GB Of Monthly Data Usage To Smartphone Tethering Plan To Take On Verizon

AT&T has just announced that it will be increasing the monthly data limits from 2GB to 4GB from February 13th for users on a smartphone tethering plan at no additional cost. It has also announced the launch of AT&T Mobile hotspot application for HTC Inspire 4G users, which comes with 4GB of data.

iOS 4.2 Beta 3: Apple Removes Tethering Options For iPad; Adds New iPad Wallpapers

The excitement surrounding this discovery however appears to be short-lived. We are now hearing from developers that Apple may have scrapped this tethering functionality as it is no longer available in iOS 4.2 beta 3

iOS 4.2 Reveals Tethering Options For iPad

Programmer Paul Grave discovered the new tethering options in the settings after upgrading to iOS 4.2 beta 2 on his iPad 3G.
9to5Mac reports that the options appear onlyon European carriers and do not appear on iPad 3Gs running on AT&T’s network.
As you can see from the screenshot below, users can enter the APN network settings to tether iPad’s 3G data connection to a laptop.

AT&T Announces New Data Plans And iPhone Tethering; Kills Unlimited Data Plans

AT&T will be introducing two new data plans from June 7. They are as follows:
200MB of data for $15 per month. AT&T says this will be enough data to meet the needs of 65% of its smartphone users. If you go over the 200MB cap, AT&T will charge you $15 per 200MB if you go over the limit.
2GB of data for $25 per month. According to AT&T, only 2% of its smartphone customers manage to consume more than 2GB of data per month. AT&T will charge you $10 (more…)
