Phil Schiller Comments On Ban Of iPhone Apps With Sexual Content – Attributes It To Complaints From Women And Parents

, Phil Schiller, head of worldwide product marketing at Apple acknowledged the company's recent drive against apps with sexual content and attributed it to numerous complaints that his company received from users. Schiller said:
“It came to the point where we were getting customer complaints from women who found the content getting too degrading and objectionable, as well as parents who were upset with what their kids were able to see.”

In an apparent damage control mode, Phil Schiller, the Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing at Apple , in his recent interview to Business Week elaborates the reasons why the review process must exist. The main reason, Schiller says is to offer a family-friendly

Schiller was unbelievably responsive throughout the whole ordeal. Our first communication from him was late at night on the 11th – with another email sent to us an hour later. He was extremely nice and although not promising anything, he said he would have their team look into the situation ASAP.
To be frank, Chris and I [the creators] were both amazed that this had reached the heights it had at all – given the fact that it is just a fun magic trick. (more…)
