Apple is no stranger to patent suits, but the latest one alleges legal issues with the brains behind the new iPhone and iPad.

Filed by the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) on behalf of the University of Wisconsin, the suit claims that Apple ‘s A7 chip violated its 5,781,752 patent known as “Table based data speculation circuit for parallel processing computer,” PatentlyApple reported (more…)

Awarded Tuesday by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the patent appropriately titled “Dual image sensor image processing system and method” describes how a dual-sensor camera would outshine a single-sensor system.

Published Thursday by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the patent dubbed “Power management for electronic devices” suggests key ways to save or reduce the power consumed by your phone or tablet.

Apple lands in Chinese court to battle Siri patent suit

Apple is now squaring off against another legal adversary in China.

The iPhone maker appeared today at a Shanghai court hearing for a case in which it’s accused of copying the voice-recognition software used for Siri, AFP reported.

Shanghai-based Zhizhen Network Technology has charged Apple with patent infringement, claiming that it holds the rights to the software in question.

Apple wins patent for original iPhone

The original iPhone has finally won a patent for Apple five years after its debut.

Granted yesterday by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the patent is actually for the design of the phone, specifically “the ornamental design of an electronic device.”

Apple has won a patent that adds another piece to the puzzle of mobile payments via near-field communications.

Dubbed “Motion based payment confirmation,” the new patent details several ways to help the user confirm that a mobile transaction has actually been completed while using a mobile device like an iPhone or iPod .

Imagine a mobile phone that automatically turns off its display and sounds when it senses that it’s in a movie theater.
