Apple ’s iPhone already comes with a number of sensors such as GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity light sensor, ambient light sensor and digital compass that enhance user experience.
So what should we expect in the future iPhones? The New York Times’ Nick Bilton spoke with Benedetto Vigna, General Manager of the MEMS division of STMicroelectronics, a company that creates sensors for mobile devices to find out the answer to that question.

Moodspins mood tracker comes to the iPhone

Moodspin, a very eccentric social-networking add-on service has just had its app (link opens in iTunes) approved on the App Store. In case you’re unfamiliar with the site, it currently works only on Twitter, and lets you very quickly broadcast how you’re feeling to the people who follow you.

Ghostly app streams music for your mood

Mood-based music playlists have been a holy grail for audio entrepreneurs since the dawn of the MP3. There’s just something unshakable about the idea that your iPod might sense your mood and play music to fit your precoffee grogginess or sun-filled Saturday frolic. Unfortunately, everyone from MIT to Memorex has experienced mixed success trying to crack the music mood algorithm.
