Analyst: Entry-Level iPad Costs $230 to Manufacture

Based on the firm's bill of materials (BOM) estimate, the price of the entry level iPad; the 16GB Wi-Fi only model, is just close to $230 while the 64GB iPad 3G model, which is the most expensive of the lot retailing at $829 costs only $346 to make.iSuppli however notes that these prices do not include expenditure on R&D, software, marketing, distribution and patent licensing.
