An enterprising hacker has jailbroken iOS 7.1, at least as seen on a YouTube video.
Posted by self-dubbed “insane programmer” winocm, the silent video shows a jailbroken iPhone 4 powering up in untethered mode. Winocm takes the phone from screen to screen and makes sure to hit the Settings screen to show that the phone is indeed running iOS 7.1.

iOS 6.1.4 has apparently been jailbroken just in advance of the expected announcement of iOS 7.
On Saturday, a developer dubbed Winocm tweeted an image of iOS 6.1.4 running Cydia, the popular app used to install software on jailbroken devices. The image shows Cydia version 1.1.8 installed on an iPhone 5.

iOS 6.0.1 users can now jailbreak their devices, but there are some bumps in the road.
The latest version of the iPhone Dev Team’s Redsn0w can jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 devices, Redmond Pie confirmed today after testing the update.
However, not everyone can take advantage of the effort at this point.

Third-party gadget warranty service SquareTrade today expanded its coverage, and now supports jailbroken iPhones.
That procedure — which gives device owners deep system-level access, letting them install third-party software from places other than Apple ‘s App Store — voids Apple ‘s own warranty, and that from carriers.
