has just released a new version Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether jailbreak (v1.0-7) to fix the DRM iBooks issue.

Corona 1.0-6: @planetbeing put a lot of work into solving iBooks image loading bugs. All users (however jailbroken) on 5.0.1 should install.
However, there was some dependency issue, which he soon corrected and released Corona 1.0-7.
@planetbeing wrote a utility called “crazeles” that overcomes jailbreak detection by iBooks that would cause about 10% of images to show incorrectly. This fix is similar to the “hunnypot” fix that @comex wrote for the 4.x jailbreak.
Saurik has recommended all users (except for iPhone 3GS with older bootrom) who have jailbroken their iOS device, which includes iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (except for iPhone 3GS with older bootrom), iPad 2, iPad 1, iPod touch 3rd gen, iPod touch 4th gen to install the latest version of Corona 5.0.1 jailbreak from Cydia. So it basically means that it doesn’t matter if you’ve used
to jailbreak your iOS device, one can install the Corona 1.0-7 jailbreak.
Please note that it is always a good idea to take a backup of your iOS device before proceeding as a number of users have reported issues after installing previous Corona jailbreak updates.
If the iBooks DRM issue doesn’t bother you then we would suggest holding off updating to the new version until you see positive feedback in the comments.
We installed Corona 1.0-7 on an iPhone 4S jailbroken using Absinthe jailbreak and iPod touch 4G using Redsn0w. We didn’t hit any issue on the iPod touch 4G. However, iPhone 4S initially went into safe mode after installing the update. Things have been fine after rebooting the iPhone again.

Redns0w 0.9.10b4: Untethered iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak Updated To Fix iBooks Issue

, iPhone Dev team has now released an updated version of Redns0w – Redsn0w 0.9.10b4, which includes the fix for the iBooks issue and launchd socket issue, which was randomly causing some issues.
The b4 version of redsn0w incorporates the 5.0.1 fix for iBooks, and also for sporadic problems with launchctl. Thanks to @xvolks for merging the iBooks (sandbox) fix from @comex’s github into the overall corona untether from @pod2g! As usual, you can choose to install the fix either by re-running redsn0w over your existing jailbreak (de-select Cydia if you do that), or by installing the corona package from Cydia (it’s the same set of files no matter which way you choose).
If auto-detection fails and redsn0w tells you no identifying data was found, you can always pre-select the
using “Extras->Select IPSW”.

Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether Update May Fix iBooks Issue Soon

The good news is that iOS hacker with the Twitter handle xvolks has figured out a way to fix the iBooks issue.
With the invaluable help of @pod2g, I’ve patched the kernel in corona to make iBooks work without the ugly tweak called xBooks. Still no ETA.
I’ve developed this patch on my iPhone 4.
It needs to be adjusted to the other devices and being tested.
Since I do not own an iPad nor an iPod , I cannot do that myself. Hopefully, MuscleNerd will do the rest of the job and will release the package soon.
When this fix will be released, the xBooks fix will be obsolete and you’ll need to remove it and reinstall iBooks.

Though the biggest gripe for most iPhone 4S users has been an abnormally short battery life, an issue that could prove to be just as frustrating is gaining vocal ground in support forums across the Web.

These iPhone 4S owners are experiencing random muting during phone calls, an issue that has reportedly been ignored in the forthcoming iOS 5.1 update.

The problem happens as calls are placed. You tap the appropriate contact or dial the number you wish to call and at some point during the connection, the audio on the caller’s end fails.

Interestingly, on the other end, the call recipients have reported no issues. They can even hear the caller’s frustration with the lack of audio on the opposite side. So what’s to blame?

Right now, no one quite knows. My first finger point is always at software. There are so many variables at play with software development, it seems much more likely for a weird occurrence like this to be related to coding missteps, competing software installations, or user configurations.

Some people in the forums disagree with the software theory, however. They blame hardware failure in the iPhone 4S and its capability to connect (and stay connected) to cellular networks.

Thanks to an especially determined user (@szr8) I finally squashed a nasty bug that caused Windows users’ TU to crash on startup. Apparently it was something stupid that I was doing that I thought i wasn’t doing. Either way. Many of you have voiced this issue but now it’s fixed. This fix affects you if TU would crash on startup with “LibraryFinder” errors in the log.
Even though Apple has made it difficult to downgrade to an older version of iOS 5.x using SHSH blobs in iOS 5, it may be a good idea to take a backup of SHSH blobs.

Dev Team Updates Redsn0w; Adds Native Support For iOS 5.0.1, Fixes iBooks Issue And Lots More

Redsn0w 0.9.9b9b will also allow users to downgrade using iOS 5.x. SHS blobs.
The holiday season is almost here (Happy Holidays!) so we realize everyone is busy (especially @pod2g!). And even though we always recommend that jailbreakers stay where they are until a new untethered JB comes out, that’s not always possible. So we’ve updated redsn0w for those who may have found themselves at iOS 5.0.1, and added some other useful features too:
native support for 5.0.1 (no need to point redsn0w at 5.0 IPSW or use command-line args). Support automatically extends to all of redsn0w’s various functions: “Jailbreak”, “Just boot”, “Fetch blobs”, “Stitch blobs”, “Recovery Fix”
iBooks fixed in 5.0 and 5.0.1. This is a targeted fix that doesn’t remove entire sandbox mechanism. 5.x users already using redsn0w “Just Boot” can just use the new version without redoing entire jailbreak again

If you’re facing any of these issues, you can follow these tips to see if one of them resolves the issue until Apple releases an iOS software update to fix the issue:
