 has found that over 12 times the normal amount of activations occurred over the holiday weekend alone.
A new report by Localytics claims that over 12 times the number of iOS devices were activated over the holiday weekend, December 23rd – 26th compared to previous weekends since Thanksgiving.

iPad, other iOS devices top kids holiday wish lists, says study

Apple ‘s line of iOS portables are in the lead for products desired by kids ages 6 to 12 in the U.S. this holiday season, a new study from Nielsen has found.

eBay Claims 1.5 Million Items Were Purchased via Mobile Site and iPhone App This Holiday Season

In a statement released by eBay, the company says over 1.5 million items were purchased by shoppers from either the eBay mobile site or
during the holiday season. This is a 300% increase from the number of mobile phone shoppers during the 2008 holiday shopping season.

iPhone App Downloads from iPod Touch Indicates Record Holiday Sales

As TechCrunch notes, the reason behind this jump could be because iPod Touch makes for a better Christmas gift than an iPhone and hence it is likely that it was a more popular gift to teenagers and pre-teens this year. Also considering previously known data that suggest that teenagers tend to download more iPhone apps than adults do, the sudden spike in downloads of iPhone apps from iPod Touches seems to be on expected lines.
