Word games you may not know about for smartphones

Most games on my iPhone keep my interest for awhile, but then they enter a state of sitting on my home screen until I remember to revisit them. If they sit long enough, I’ll delete them knowing I can always re-download if the urge strikes me. But there is one category of games I never stop playing.

When I get a moment, I’m always catching up with word games on my iPhone . I constantly have a Scrabble (more…)

Hot games optimized for iPhone 5

Now that you have your iPhone 5, you’ve probably noticed that not all apps take advantage of the wider screen. I’ve been noticing that the updates have been pouring in fairly quickly, but unfortunately, I still have a lot of “letterboxed” apps and games that show black spaces on each side.

For this week’s collection I put together three games that look absolutely fantastic on the iPhone (more…)

We’re now in the second week of the NFL football season, and if you’re a fan of the game you probably already know when and where you’re going to watch your favorite team play this weekend. But when it’s not game watching time in the middle of the week, or even at halftime, I found some great games that make you a part of the action without getting too involved.

There are full American football game (more…)

There are few events quite as exciting as the Olympics. With athletes from all over the world competing for their respective countries, it’s easy to get excited as you root for your country to win. Obviously, I’ll be rooting for my American compatriots, but seeing the drama of each event, no matter who the winner is, can be appreciated by anyone.

This year, the apps for tracking Olympic events are better (more…)

Analyst: Design, UI, Apps & Games Will Make Apple Television Revolutionary, Not Content

Here’s an idea, how about using control pads. All the top selling console games use control pads primarily. Although games use motion controllers and touch pads, they lack precise control and are still somewhat gimmicky. I’m not a gamer, and I’m not saying that’s how apple should market it. Its just another killer feature that could make a great selling point.
I’m not really sure what makes a great smart tv experience. (more…)

I play a lot of video games. I have a Windows gaming rig and an Xbox 360, and my iOS devices are filled with games from every genre. I would consider myself a fairly skilled gamer, but there are certain types of games designed to challenge even the most seasoned fans.

Back in January, I wrote a similar post called “Games that make you rage on iOS.” One of the games I’m focusing on today is the sequel (more…)

As we settle in to another exciting baseball season this spring, what could be a better time waster on your smartphone than a good baseball game? I usually write about iOS apps in my weekly collection, but this week all the games I selected have both iOS and Android versions so everyone can get in on the fun.

This week’s collection of apps for both iOS and Android are all about baseball. The first two (more…)

The perpetual running game genre that works so well on touch devices doesn’t seem to be winding down anytime soon — and I, for one, am very glad it keeps getting refreshed with new and unique games.

Running games are perfect for when you need to kill a little time because you can go for your high score a couple of times while waiting in line at the DMV or perhaps while riding the train, but they’re (more…)
