Apple bolstering privacy by ending developer access to UDIDs

The unique string of numbers that individually identifies each iOS device has typically been used by developers as a way to track their app installations across Apple ‘s user base.

Financial Times Acquires Assanka – Developer of Their HTML5 Web App

reports that Financial Times has acquired web and application development firm Assanka.
The 12-person shop had developed Financial Times HTML5 based web app.
Back in August 2011,  
 as it refused to get buckled down by Apple ‘s In-App Subscription policy.
Since all In-App Subscriptions go through Apple , it meant that publishers wouldn’t get all the information about subscribers such as demographic information used by magazines and newspapers (more…)

Developer Responds To Removal Of Fake Driver’s License App From App Store

A couple of days ago,
that allowed users to create fake driver’s license on the request of a U.S. Senator. The app which was on the App Store for over two years, could apparently be misused for illegal activities.
According to DriversEd.com, the developers of the app, Apple didn’t contact them even hours after pulling down their app. When finally contacted, Apple cited a section of the

Developer coaxes Siri to raise, lower his temperature

The prospect of asking Apple ‘s Siri to control items besides your iPhone is starting to look a whole lot more real.

A developer known only as Pete, or @plamoni on Twitter, has created a special proxy server through which he can issue voice commands to the iPhone 4S voice assistant, who can then perform tasks outside of the iPhone . The first target: his thermostat.

Siris security sabotaged, developer releases crack tools

The security protocol that enables Siri to communicate with Apple ‘s servers and return information via speech recognition has been cracked by developer Applidium.

What does that mean?

In a nutshell, according to Applidium, “anyone could now write an Android app that uses the real Siri!” The technology that Siri uses to communicate with Apple servers is not HTTP, as many developers may suspect. (more…)
