prototype.
From the data in the photos, which contain the output from an iPad 3 using a development and debug tool called iBoot, we can infer plenty of information about the upcoming iPad 3. For starters, the model numbers are J1 and J2 (iPad3,1 and iPad3,2), and while DigiTimes reported this a few weeks ago, these two models are not different devices, just a single iPad available in two versions — one with Wi-Fi only and one with Wi-Fi and embedded GSM/CDMA/LTE for all carriers.
Also included in the photos is, for the first time, confirmation of which processor Apple will be using in the iPad 3: an A6 processor with model number S5L8945X. For reference, the Apple A4 model was S5L8930X and the A5 is S5L8940X.
reports that according to their source, A6 – Apple ‘s next generation system-on-chip will include a quad-core processor. iPad 2′s A5 system-on-chip comes with a dual-core processor.
It would have been nice if BGR’s source who claims to have access to an iPad 3 prototype had taken the photo of the iPad 3 instead of taking the picture of the debug software. So take this with a pinch of salt though the possibility of a quad-core processor and support for LTE support cannot be ruled out completely.
According to rumors,
and look just like iPad 2.
What do you think about the possibility of iPad 3 with a faster quad-core processor and support for 4G LTE networks? Will you upgrade to iPad 3 even if it doesn’t feature an all-new design?

will be slimmer and include a quad-mode chip from Qualcomm that will enable it to support 3G and 4G LTE networks across “network flavors”.
As for Apple ‘s next iPhone , Huberty said details on the device remained “sparse,” but she believes the device will be ready at the end of the second quarter. The launch will depend on “manufacturing yields,” she said, adding that she expects the next-gen iPhone to arrive in the third quarter “unless competition heats up.”
According to her, new touch panel technology will enable Apple to make the device thinner. Huberty also claimed Apple is “considering” new casing materials.
Huberty said it appears that the next-generation iPhone will incorporate Qualcomm’s quad-mode chip that would allow it to “run on all 3G and LTE network flavors,” but she said it was “too early to know for sure.” If Apple were to ink a deal with China Mobile, it would increase confidence that Apple would utilize the chip, she added.
“What is clear about iPhone 5 is that Apple and its supply chain are positively surprised by the demand for iPhone 4S, which increases confidence in strong sales for iPhone 5 later this year. Overall, the supply chain looks for stronger than market growth for both the iPhone (50%+ y/y vs. market 20-30%) and the iPad (20-40% growth, higher with a lower priced iPad 2),” she wrote.
Earlier in the week, T-Mobile USA CTO had also revealed in an interview that the
, indicating that Apple could finally start selling the iPhone on T-Mobile USA’s network.
However, few things need to fall in place for it to happen. At the
, Tim Cook had explained why
“The first generation of LTE chip-sets force a lot of design compromises with the handset, and some of those we are just not willing to make”
The design compromise that had to be made in 4G phones were evident in the first 4G capable phone in the U.S. – Verizon’s Thunderbolt (via
[the phone] relies on a pair of chips to work. One chip, from Samsung, communicates with Verizon’s 4G networks, allowing the handset to achieve blazing data speeds of between 5 and 20 MBPS. Another chip, from Qualcomm, lets the handset talk to Verizon’s 3G network.
So Apple would most likely come out with a 4G iPhone only when unified chips supporting both 3G and 4G would be available. That and of course if the battery life doesn’t take a huge hit. It looks like Qualcomm’s MDM9615 modem is the ideal chip that meets Apple ‘s requirement.
However, it is not
to begin shipping until the second quarter of this year, which means that the earliest the 4G LTE iPhone can be introduced is by the third quarter of 2012.

Apple usually relies on Asian OEMs for its parts, but
reports that the A5 processor is manufactured in a sprawling 1.6 million square feet factory in Texas owned by Samsung.
Insiders who know about Apple ‘s manufacturing habits will agree that most of their parts are sourced and assembled by low-cost Asian manufacturers. Reuters’ insiders are claiming that a relatively new Samsung factory in Austin, Texas is outputting A5 chips for Apple . The ARM-based dual-core A5 processor powers the
. Reuters reports.
Nearly all of the output of the non-memory chip production from the factory – which is the size of about nine football fields – is dedicated to producing Apple chips, one of the people said. Samsung also produces NAND flash memory chips in Austin.
Neither Apple nor Samsung commented on these claims, stating that they will not disclose information on supplier/customer relationships.
litigation going on between the two, it appears as though Samsung is still the manufacturing partner in charge of processors for Apple . Rumors in August claimed that Apple was looking at the
for its upcoming A6 processor, though later there were claims that
.
Now, because of this new information, there seems to be more support for the rumor that Samsung will be the one to produce Apple ‘s upcoming A6 processor, which will power the
, next generation iPhone as well as the
that are expected to be launched in 2012.

between Apple and Samsung doesn’t seem to be adversely affecting the business relationship the two companies share. According to a
report, Samsung will continue supplying Apple with the processors used on
devices.
Contrary to earlier reports that said Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) would be manufacturing Apple ‘s next generation A6 chips,
“Apple has been in talks with Samsung over shipment of its A6 quad-core mobile processor (AP) chips to be used in the next iPhone . It appears that Apple clearly has concluded that Samsung remains a critical business partner,” an executive from an Apple parts supplier based in Korea said on condition of anonymity.
? According to the report:
TSMC will provide customized chips with designs from Apple , however, the volume will be very small
[...]
The manufacturing process at TSMC hasn’t been stabilized. Considering Apple ’s previous patterns of adopting qualified technologies, Apple isn’t taking risks. Samsung offers better pricing and capacity commitment for the A6 mobile APs
So it looks like Apple is keen on working with TSMC to sideline Samsung as the primary chip supplier for iOS devices, but for some reason TSMC isn’t able to deliver.
The news flow in the past few days is a perfect indicator of how awkward the relationship between Apple and Samsung presently is. While
reported that Samsung’s president and COO (same person) was invited to Steve Jobs’ memorial,
.
“Apple is one of Samsung’s most important clients, and we have developed a solid partnership. But that’s a separate matter from the legal disputes between the two companies in areas where they compete”
Over time, it appears that
would decrease its reliance on Samsung for essential device components, just like
for essential iOS software.

After months of rumors and speculations, Apple unveiled their hotly anticipated fifth generation iPhone called
event earlier today.
As the name suggests, iPhone 4S is not a redesigned iPhone as many of us had hoped, it looks like iPhone 4 but comes with a number of new features and improvements.
iPhone 4S will be powered by Apple ‘s A5 processor that currently powers iPad 2. Apple claims it delivers up to 2 times faster performance and up to 7 times faster graphics compared to iPhone 4′s A4 chip.
/2.4 aperture. The camera also comes with an improved backside illumination sensor, auto white balance, advanced color accuracy, face detection, and reduced motion blur.
You will be able to shoot 1080p HD video using iPhone 4S. It also comes with image stabalization technology to avoid shaky videos.
iPhone 4S is a dual mode or world phone, which means it will work on both GSM and CDMA network, which is a boon for CDMA iPhone users as they’ll be able to roam GSM networks. Apple claims that iPhone 4S is the first phone to intelligently switch between two antennas to transmit and receive, so call quality is better.
Apple has doubled the maximum HSDPA data speeds to 14.4 Mbps in iPhone 4S.
iPhone 4S comes with improved battery life even though it comes with a faster processor.
Talk time: Up to 8 hours on 3G (from 7 hours in case of iPhone 4), up to 14 hours on 2G (GSM)
Internet use: Up to 6 hours on 3G, up to 9 hours on Wi-Fi
Siri’s is Apple ‘s new personal assistant feature that is exclusively available on iPhone 4S. Using Siri, you can use voice commands to compose and dictate emails, schedule meetings, place phone calls, it can also find answers for you from the web through sources like Wikipedia, Yelp and WolframAlpha. It also can use location based services wherever required. You can send a text, ask for a reminder, ask for the weather or even the closest ATM using voice commands. Apple has covered a few more examples:
Siri understands context allowing you to speak naturally when you ask it questions, for example, if you ask “Will I need an umbrella this weekend?” it understands you are looking for a weather forecast. Siri is also smart about using the personal information you allow it to access, for example, if you tell Siri “Remind me to call Mom when I get home” it can find “Mom” in your address book, or ask Siri “What’s the traffic like around here?” and it can figure out where “here” is based on your current location. Siri helps you make calls, send text messages or email, schedule meetings and reminders, make notes, search the Internet, find local businesses, get directions and more. You can also get answers, find facts and even perform complex calculations just by asking.
It is clearly the killer feature of Apple ‘s new iPhone . We still need to try it out, but it could be as revolutionary as iPhone ‘s multi-touch interface.
The gorgeous Retina display.
It will come preinstalled with iOS 5, which brings over 200 new features and improvements.
FaceTime – Apple ‘s video recording feature.
AirPlay and AirPrint support.
iPhone 4S will be available for $199 for the 16GB model, $299 for the 32GB model, $399 for the 64GB model.
iPhone 4S will be available for pre-order in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Japan and Australia on October 7th and will be launching on October 14th and in 22 more countries on October 28th and 70 countries by the end of the year.
Though we can see that many of you are disappointed that Apple didn’t launch a redesigned iPhone 5 with a larger screen, we think the specs bump and Siri makes it a great incremental upgrade.
Let us know what you think in the comments.

But according to 9 to 5 Mac, iPhone 5′s biggest selling point will be a new software feature called
.
According to 9 to 5 Mac, here’s what we should expect in iPhone 5:
Powered by Apple ‘s faster dual-core A5 system-on-chip that powers iPad 2 currently, which is twice as fast as iPhone 4′s A4 system-on-chip and offers up to 9 times faster graphics
One of the key elements of Assistant is the conversation view. The system will actually speak back and forth with the user to gain the most information in order to provide the best results. The user essentially can hold a conversation with their iPhone like it is another human being. For example, if a user is making a meeting with me, they will say “setup meeting with Mark” and the first “bubble” of the conversation thread will say that. After that, the system will speak back: “which e-mail address should Mark be notified at, work or personal?” This question will both be spoken out loud by the iPhone Assistant and shown as a new “bubble” in the conversation thread. The user will then respond with the email address they want to notify me at, and the appointment will be made. The iPhone will even show a quick glance at a calendar view to confirm the appointment. If the Assistant was sending an SMS, as another example, a mini SMS view would appear so the user has a quick glance at the SMS thread.
The Assistant feature will also work with the rumored Find My Friends feature and also integrate with Wolfram Alpha, which is an online computational knowledge system.

has published a photo, which they claim is the logic board for iPhone 4S or iPhone 5. The photo first appeared on the microblogging site Weibo.
The photo clearly reveals Apple ‘s A5 chip, which currently powers
.
couple of weeks back, but at that time the the chip was missing. As you can see below, the photo also reveals the battery pack. Interestingly, the specifications of the battery in this photo seems to be little different from the one we have see
.
Earlier photos had shown the battery offering 3.7 V and 5.3 Whr, for a charge capacity of about 1430 mAh. For comparison, the current iPhone 4 battery checks in at 3.7 V and 5.25 Whr, offering 1420 mAh of charge.
This new photo appears to have the charge of 1430 mAh stamped directly on it, but curiously seems to list the voltage at 4.2 V. It is unclear exactly why the battery seems to be reporting a different voltage, and thus a different energy close to 6 Whr to reach the same 1430 mAh charge seen in earlier photos of the same part.
So far, we’ve heard conflicting reports about next generation iPhone ’s form factor. According to some reports,
. While, some reports claim that
such as faster processor, 8-megapixel camera etc. just like
, but won’t feature an all-new design and will look like iPhone 4.
In fact, according to some reports,
.
While we expect iPhone 5 to be powered by Apple ‘s faster dual-core A5 chip, it would come as a surprise if the cheaper iPhone 4S model will also be powered by the A5 chip.
As for the battery, we just hope this means that Apple ‘s new iPhone will come with improved battery life.

reports that according to an Apple employee who did not want to be named,
announcement is just weeks away, in line with what some of the rumors have suggested.
Interestingly, NYT also claims that the design of the
that briefly showed up on their website few hours back are “authentic”.
We’re just weeks away from the announcement of the new Apple iPhone 5, according to an Apple employee who asked not to be named because he was not allowed to speak publicly for the company.
On Thursday the technology blog Boy Genius Report posted images of a new iPhone case from the site of a company called Case-Mate. The images were visible on the company’s site for a short period of time before they were replaced with a curiously cryptic page that says, “We’ll have your cases when you have your new iPhone .”
From descriptions I’ve heard of the new iPhone from Apple employees, the images seemed potentially authentic.
NYT reports that according to an engineer familiar with the new iPhone , it will:
will include a new chip that is made by Qualcomm, which will include near-field communication technology, known as NFC., that can be used to make contactless mobile payments by waving the phone over an NFC. reader.
NYT hasn’t provided any new details about the next generation iPhone , but it gives some credibility to the various rumors and speculations we’ve heard so far, which indicate that Apple will launch a redesigned iPhone 5.
We hope that Apple launches a redesigned iPhone 5.

The iPhone 5 rumor mill is working overtime.
, Apple ’s faster dual-core A5 processor that currently powers
, which might delay the launch of Apple ’s fifth generation
.
Apple is widely expected to launch the eagerly awaited iPhone 5 later this fall.
Due to the emergence of Apple ‘s current A5 processor overheating problem, so Apple will not soon be launching a new generation of the iPhone 5 smartphones, but Apple will launch this fall is still an iPhone 4, enhanced mobile products or the name iPhone 4S, this iPhone 4S is mainly based on the iPhone 4 on minor upgrades and no significant upgrade.
According to Sohu, the A5 chip overheating issue initially forced Apple to delay the launch of iPhone 5 to late August and early September timeframe instead of the annual June-July timeframe. However, according to the report, the launch of a completely
iPhone 5 has now been pushed to 2012 and Apple will launch a specs bumped iPhone 4S later this year.
etc..
does not have a track record with Apple related rumors so take this with a pinch of salt.
What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.

reports that according to their sources, Apple ’s
, come with an ARM Cortex-A9 processor though they’re not sure if it will be single or dual core and an improved 8-megapixel camera.
, the
to work on both GSM and CDMA networks.
According to an anonymous source, this reported product by DigiTimes is improved model of iPhone 4 on same form factor, and uses ARM Cortex-A9 chip as CPU, but it is not confirmed whether this model has single CPU or with dual CPU’s.
It is widely speculated that the next iPhone will come with Apple ‘s new dual-core A5 system-on-chip, which powers
.
Last week, France Telecom confirmed that Apple was working on a project dubbed “e-SIM project”, which would allow the
. But he indicated that carriers had convinced Apple that it was a bad idea as
. So it would be surprising to see Apple introduce a SIM-less iPhone .
So far we’ve heard conflicting reports about next generation iPhone ’s form factor. According to some reports,
such as faster processor,
According to the report, iPhone 4S will be released at the end of July or in early August and won’t be
as some reports have indicated. It also claims that the next “major new handset”, which will be called
will arrive in the Spring of 2012.
Will you be buying or upgrading to iPhone 4S? or Will you wait for iPhone 5? Let us know in the comments.
