Apple seems to be in trouble for using the “iPad” name in China.
reports that Apple could be fined 240 million yuan ($38 million) by government authorities over alleged trademark infringement involving the “iPad” name.
But the $38 million fine just seems to be tip of the iceberg as Proview Technology is also suing Apple for $1.6 billion. It also wants Apple to apologize and is seeking an injunction that prevents the company from using the

Did Apple and China Telecom strike an iPhone 4S deal?

Apple ‘s dealings in China have been all over the Web lately due to an eye-opening New York Times report blaming Apple for extremely subpar working conditions in its manufacturing plants in southeast Asia. That story has cast a nasty shadow over Apple in China, and now there’s some more news of a deal to bring the iPhone 4S to China Telecom, China’s third largest wireless carrier.

China nears 1B mobile connections as 3G popularity rises

It’s no surprise that China’s mobile market is highly coveted by any handset manufacturer. According to a new report from Wireless Intelligence, reported by GigaOm, China is approaching the 1 billion mark for mobile connections, largely due to the popularity of 3G, which accounts for nearly 25 percent of subscribers.

Apple suspends iPhone 4S sales in China after egg-throwing attack

Apple has pulled the plug on iPhone 4S sales in mainland China after unruly crowds hurled eggs at the company’s flagship store in Beijing.

iPhone 4S approved for use on China Telecom network

China is booming, and Apple knows it. While the only official iPhone carrier in China, China Unicom, is offering free iPhones with long-term contracts, a new competitor may be soon entering the market.

There are already huge queues outside of China’s five official Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) stores in readiness for tomorrow’s launch of the iPhone 4S.
