Google Briefly Experiments With QR Code-Based Login For Gmail Using Smartphone

Couple of days back, Google briefly experimented with an interesting login system that allowed users to log into their Google account from a public terminal using a smartphone.
This meant that users didn’t have to enter the password on the public terminal, which can be compromised. It could also be used when you’re on a public or non-trusted Wi-Fi network.

While we wait for Microsoft to release Office apps for iPad and iPhone , CloudOn – Silicon Valley based startup has released an free app in the App Store that brings Microsoft Office functionality to the iPad.
The app is no longer available in the App Store.

In a peculiar move, accessory maker Case-Mate briefly posted renders of a new line of cases for the Apple ‘s next iPhone , which has not yet been announced by the company.

Included in the renderings were depictions of Apple ‘s next device, which was shown as having a rounded aluminum backing, similar to the iPad 2′s design.

David Pogue of New York Times interviewed Apple ’s CEO Steve Jobs after the special event and had asked him why Apple had omitted the camera from the iPod Touch like many had speculated.
“Mr. Jobs reiterated what Phil Schiller, the marketing vice president, had said earlier in the onstage presentation: that Apple is really pitching the iPod Touch as a game machine these days. And to do that, you have to make it as inexpensive as possible.

The reason for Apple 's addition of the new category is unknown, although it seems possible that the company may have reconsidered its decision to remove the “overtly sexual” applications in the face of backlash from developers and users and has decided to create a dedicated category in an attempt to find a middle ground in the controversy.
