The volume of customers waiting in line for new iPhones has prompted Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster to stick to his forecast that Apple can sell 5 to 6 million handsets before the weekend is over.

iPhone holds value better than do Samsung phones -- analyst

Android may be outpacing Apple at new sales, but the iPhone seems to be the better bet in terms of resale value. At least, that’s according to new data from Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster.

Surveying the recent resale market, Munster found that Apple hung onto its value in the U.S. better than did certain Samsung devices.

Apple dual-sensor patent could yield better iPhone photos

The camera on your future iPhone or iPad could house two sensors, helping you snap higher-quality photos and videos.

Awarded Tuesday by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the patent appropriately titled “Dual image sensor image processing system and method” describes how a dual-sensor camera would outshine a single-sensor system.

iPhone sales may be better than expected, says analyst

Apple ‘s iPhone sales in the third quarter probably won’t break the bank, but they may be higher than anticipated, says Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster.

Based on the number of iPhones activated by Verizon last quarter, the analyst believes Apple ‘s non-iPhone 5 sales were stronger than expected.

Intel is wrong about ultrabooks being better than iPads

If this sounds familiar, one only needs to go back to the Netbook craze that was sweeping the “Apple is doomed”-style headlines just a few years ago.
