Apple iOS 7.1 hits 12 percent adoption

Just 45 hours after its release on Monday, iOS 7.1 has snagged 12 percent of all iOS Web traffic seen by Chitika for North America.

In this regard, iOS 7.1 adoption has taken off at a rate close to that for iOS 7.0.6, Chitika said Wednesday. Launched on February 21, iOS 7.0.6 reached a 13.3 percent adoption within 48 hours. Given Apple ‘s notification process for new updates, future minor iOS 7 (more…)

Apple aims to keep your iPhone juiced based on your behavior

How often does your smartphone conk out before the day is even done? Apple has proposed a couple of ideas to keep the juice flowing.

Published Thursday by the US Patent and Trademark Office, a patent called “Inferring user intent from battery usage level and charging trends” suggests a way to preserve battery power by determining how and when you use your smartphone.

After rough IPO, concern for Apple supplier Japan Display

Japan Display, the world’s largest smartphone display supplier, had a rough IPO on Wednesday.

When Japan Display (JDI) listed its shares in a $3.1 billion initial public offering Wednesday, the price at opening dropped 15 percent below the IPO price, as reported by Nikkei.

Analysts on Apple: Looking to iPhone 6 upside

Wedge Partners and Pacific Crest weighed in on the rumored iPhone 6 this week, with Wedge also offering speculation on other possible products like the iWatch and a bigger iPad as well as strategies for services at Apple .

Apple-Samsung silicon union still strong, chip expert says

Samsung makes the highly-praised 64-bit Apple A7 processor.

Call it a habit that Samsung and Apple just can’t break.

Their critical partnership in silicon is still strong, according to the CEO of chip industry tracker VLSI Research, Dan Hutcheson, who spoke with CNET in a phone interview, after returning from a trip to South Korea, the land of Samsung.
