Omnivision – camera sensor supplier for all iOS devices has announced the availability of a new 8-megapixel camera sensor for ultra-thin smartphones,  which they claim is 20 percent thinner than any other 8-megapixel camer sensor in the market today.

While Bharti Airtel has started accepting iPhone 4 pre-registrations earlier this month, Aircel has issued a press release to confirm that it will be launching iPhone 4 this Friday for both pre-paid and post-paid customers.

AT&T's third-quarter integrated device growth included 5.2 million iPhone activations, the most iPhone activations ever in a quarter. This is 62 percent more than the previous quarterly record of 3.2 million activated in the second quarter of 2010. Approximately 24 percent of those activations were for customers who were new to AT&T.

Apple sold 3.89 million Macs during the quarter, up 27 percent unit over the year-ago quarter. Apple also sold 9.05 million
during the quarter, representing an 11 percent decline over the year-ago quarter.

“One-third of the people who have downloaded iTunes 10 have joined Ping,“ said Eddy Cue, Apple ’s vice president of Internet Services. “As many more people download iTunes 10 in the coming weeks, we expect the Ping community to continue growing.“
Meanwhile, Steve Jobs defended the new iTunes logo, which has received some criticism.

While the addition of the two new carriers is good news for iPhone users, these subscribers may however have to forego their existing unlimited data plans soon. O2 has announced their latest tariffs that has replaced the existing unlimited data plan with a tiered usage-driven pricing structure.
Monthly tariffs in the new plans range between £25 and £60 for subscribers who have signed up for a 24 month contract. The basic plan will offer 100 minutes (more…)

Yesterday Apple and its carrier partners took pre-orders for more than 600,000 of Apple 's new iPhone 4. It was the largest number of pre-orders Apple has ever taken in a single day and was far higher than we anticipated, resulting in many order and approval system malfunctions.
