Although there’s growing evidence that Apple will introduce larger iPhones sometime this year, I’m keeping the promise I made last year. I need and want a phone with a larger screen — now, not later — and for me, that means an Android model. (No offense, Windows Phone fans: I simply don’t like the hardware and especially don’t like the OS.)

Android whips iPhone at wooing mobile ad traffic but...

Android generates more mobile ad traffic for smartphones than does the iPhone , according to a new report from Opera Mediaworks.

Looking strictly at smartphone platforms, Opera found that Android scooped up a 36 percent share of all ad impressions during the fourth quarter of 2013. That number beat the iPhone , which sliced off a 28.7 percent share.

Android generates more mobile ad traffic for smartphones than does the iPhone , according to a new report from Opera Mediaworks.

iOS, Android users equally happy with their apps -- analyst

The top iOS and Android apps are about on par in terms of customer satisfaction, says Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster.

Surveying user reviews and comments about the top 200 free and paid iOS and Android apps, Munster found a virtual tie between the two environments, though Android had a slight edge. The 112 apps common to both platforms scored an average rating of 4.28 (more…)

AT&Ts U-verse expands live TV universe for Android, iOS

AT&T's HTC One is just one device of dozens that that access live TV channels.

Got a hankering for watching HBO, VH1, or Showtime live from your smartphone or tablet? AT&T has good(ish) news for you. On Monday, the carrier launched over 100 live TV channels as part of its U-Verse app for select iOS and Android devices.

BlackBerry delays official BBM app for Android, iOS

BlackBerry can’t seem to catch a break lately.

The company was set to release its long-awaited BlackBerry Messenger client for Android and iOS devices this past weekend. But a little monkey wrench curtailed those plans.

Android beats surging iOS again on mobile ad network

Android remains top dog among all mobile platforms as seen by mobile ad network Millennial Media.

For the second quarter of 2013, Android snared 51 percent of all ad impressions on the network, according to the latest Millennial Media Mobile Mix report released Friday. That number was up from the 46 percent seen in the second quarter of 2012 and down just one percentage point from this (more…)
