The perpetual running game genre that works so well on touch devices doesn’t seem to be winding down anytime soon — and I, for one, am very glad it keeps getting refreshed with new and unique games.

Running games are perfect for when you need to kill a little time because you can go for your high score a couple of times while waiting in line at the DMV or perhaps while riding the train, but they’re (more…)

Kickstarter project promises dirt-cheap smartphone video stabilization

Earlier this year I wrote about the Kungl, a nifty plastic iPhone case with an embedded 1/4-inch tripod mount.

At $19.99, it’s one of the more affordable tripod accessory options out there. But what if you want to shoot video with, say, an iPod Touch? Or an Android phone? And what if you don’t happen to have a tripod handy?

Assuming the Kickstarter funding comes through, the SlingShot will hold your smartphone (more…)

The late Steve Jobs really was irate with Google for stealing the iPhone ‘s thunder, according to his biographer.

Speaking last night at the Royal Institution in Great Britain, “Steve Jobs” author Walter Isaacson laid out the scenario under which Jobs’ anger toward Android unfurled.

As described by MacWorld, Jobs (more…)

Apple should dump the iPod Touch

Apple 's iOS underachiever needs to be put out of its misery.

I should state for the record that I love my iPod Touch. My Android phone is great for work and communication, but I can’t shake my preference for the way my iPod Touch handles music, podcasts, and games. That it can go a few days without charging is also a plus. When it comes to portable media players, there’s (more…)

Back in October of last year we told you about how Logitech was on the verge of releasing its first Apple AirPlay-compatible wireless speaker. Well, it took a little longer for the product to hit the market than we thought, but now it’s officially arrived.

Rumor had it that the speaker would simply be (more…)

Now the company has released an amusing sequel to kick off the availability of its $59.99 Helo TC Assault, which fires nonlethal RedEye missiles from two spring-loaded launchers built into the mini copter’s (more…)

As I noted back in January, the only smart way to buy Apple gear is to buy it refurbished.

You’re guaranteed to save money while getting gear that’s literally as good as new.

Just one problem: how can you keep tabs on Apple ‘s latest (more…)

WiFi speakers that are compatible with Apple ‘s Airplay wireless audio technology are gradually expected to come down in price this year after coming out of the gate in 2011 with lofty price tags that scared a lot of consumers away. Case in point: iHome’s $199 iW2 speaker with Airplay, which the company says will begin (more…)

Mass Effect: Infiltrator, hands-on: iOS gets its taste of the trilogy

Hungry for Mass Effect? Buy the console game. As far the simultaneously-released iOS game for iPhone and iPad goes, I’d recommend downloading Dead Space instead.

So, maybe it’s a tiny bit unfair to compare a $60 console game to a $5.99 iOS game, but when the name “Mass Effect” is slapped on a download, there is some expectation of a certain style of game, and a certain level (more…)
