How to give your iPhones battery life a serious boost

Apple promised superior battery life on the iPhone 4S and iOS 5, but hundreds of complaints in Apple ‘s forums prove otherwise. iPhone owners are angry about constantly having to plug in their phones, even with light usage.

Apparently Apple is investigating the issue, which one user says is as bad as 12 percent battery drops every 30 minutes, in which case the phone is little better than a brick. Such unacceptable battery performance just begs for the question, “Siri, what the heck is wrong with my iPhone ‘s battery life?”

Luckily, there is an answer. To help you extend your iPhone ‘s battery while Apple builds a fix, we dug around to find the settings and features that drain the battery the most, and (for the most part) don’t affect day-to-day usage.

Check out the tweaks in the video below:

Tips to improve short iPhone battery life

Here’s a rundown of the tweaks that will immediately improve your iPhone ‘s battery life:

Reset network settings
General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Enter a passcode (if you have one) and your phone will restart. No data will be lost, but you’ll be asked to re-enter your Wi-Fi passwords.
