getting successfully funded on KickStarter; a website that helps developers gain pledges from interested buyers in order to develop their projects.
PadPivot is another such project that has been successfully funded on KickStarter and has already started shipping units to their 4800+ backers and will be available at Best Buy and Future Shop from the beginning of September.
According to the KickStarter Project page, PadPivot is the brainchild of industrial designers Bernie Graham and Jim Young who apparently met, collaborated, and ultimately prototyped the iPad accessory over the internet.
PadPivot is a small portable stand that is compatible with the iPad and also Samsung Galaxy Tab, BlackBerry Playbook, Kindle, Nook etc. It can be used as a regular desktop stand and also placed conveniently on your thigh, leaving your hands free instead of holding your iPad.
You can mount your iPad on PadPivot either by attaching it to the grip plate, which has a re-usable adhesive that can be used to attach to even iPad with cases (except those made of extremely textured, silicone-based or made of natural fibers) or you can mount your iPad by using the groove in the stand as the holder and the grip plate as the support for the back of your iPad. You can mount the iPad in either landscape or portrait mode. We hear it also works well with smaller devices like the iPhone .
You can also fold PadPivot so that you can carry it around in your pocket and comes with a carrying case. You can checkout the demo video of PadPivot below:
PadPivot appears to be one of the must-have accessories for the iPad. It is currently not available as they are busy shipping units to their backers on KickStarter, but will be available at Best Buy and Future Shop (which is also owned by Best Buy) for $39.99 from the beginning of September. You can also sign up on their
