has released a new beta version of his jailbreak app on Cydia.
Yesterday, Swype Inc CEO Mike McSherry had said that the
didn’t appear to be a port, as some of the key features such as the blue tracer line are missing.
He was right, Andrew Liu has revealed that he has written his own code to bring Swype like experience to the iPhone , iPad and iPod touch, rather than porting Swype to iOS as the code for the official version is not open source. Liu plans to rename the jailbreak app so that users don’t get confused with Swype.
He has also released a new version of the jailbreak app, which brings improved accuracy, the much requested blue tracer line and should now work in most
rather than just the pre-installed apps like Notes, Safari etc. Liu is also working on improving performance, a smarter auto spacer, and a word selector.
You can install the beta version of Swype on your jailbroken iPhone , iPad and iPod Touch by following these simple instructions:
Launch Cydia from the home screen.
Tap on the “Manage” Tab and then tap on “Sources” section.
Tap on the “Edit” button and then tap “Add” to add the following repo URL to add sources:
After it is successfully added, tap on the “Search” tab at the bottom and search for ‘Swype’.
to select it from the search results.
Then tap on the “Install” button and then the “Confirm” button to install it.
You won’t see an app icon of Swype on the home screen, but you should be able to start using Swype on your jailbroken iPhone , iPad and iPod Touch.
As always let us know how it goes in the comments section below.
