, it looks like Apple is all set to launch the white
next week. In fact, one lucky user (who happens to be a Engadget reader) has already got his hands on one, after he was mistakenly given a white
4 instead of the black one.
Engadget has received photos of the white iPhone 4 from their reader, which he bought at Vodafone UK yesterday.
Now, we’ve secured a few images of a 16GB model from a separate source that has seemingly made its way into the hands of one lucky customer (read: bloke) over in Britain.
As the story goes, the carrier’s point-of-sale system rang it up as a black iPhone , and shortly after the sale went down, Voda sent out a notice to halt sale of these gems “until next week.”
If you look at the image carefully, it looks like the white iPhone 4 model comes with a modified proximity sensor, which is interesting as we had thought that Apple had fixed the
back in September. So we wonder what was the reason for the design change. When iPhone 4 was launched, some users had complained that the ”
” proximity sensor was causing calls to be unintentionally dialed, hung up or muted without user consent. As you can see in the image above, there is a slot over the earpiece instead of the fine grating seen in the black iPhone 4.
Meanwhile,
reports that according to their sources, Apple will finally start selling the white iPhone 4 on April 27th.
