Samsung Unveils New Honeycomb Based Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 & 10.1 To Compete With Apple’s iPad 2

Samsung has just unveiled two new tablets today at the CTIA 2011: the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 to compete with Apple ’s

Samsung is calling them the “world’s thinnest tablets” at just 8.6 millimeters, slightly thinner than
8.8
millimeters.
The tablets will support Samsung’s new TouchWiz UX overlay for tablets, which adds widget effect to Android 3.0.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will cost $499 and $599 for 16GB and 32GB models respectively, while the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 will cost $469 and $569 for 16GB and 32GB models, respectively (pricing for the 64GB is not available).
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available on June 8th, while Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be available later this summer.
The features that stand out when you compare Samsung Galaxy Tabs to Apple ’s iPad 2 are as follows: slightly lighter, slightly thinner, USB support, Adobe Flash support, better cameras and expandable memory.
Based on the hardware specifications, the new Samsung tablets look quite impressive and will give Apple ’s iPad 2 a run for its money but Samsung should have launched them now rather than this summer.
