According to Taiwanese website Digitimes, Apple is planning to bring the
last week, to a host of new markets. The countries that are set to get the CDMA iPhone include China, Japan, South Korea and India.
The publication has also reported that apart from Foxconn, which has been manufacturing
for Apple since last year, Pegatron too has been added to the list of iPhone makers.
While GSM rules the roost almost all over the world, there are still some important markets where there is a considerable patronage for CDMA networks. Apple would surely have had these markets in mind when they developed the CDMA iPhone and recent reports are indeed pointing towards this possibility.
According to Digitimes, Pegatron would be used to produce CDMA iPhones for the rest of the world while Foxconn would take care of the requirements for Verizon. The report indicates that Pegatron’s shipments for the rest of the world would commence in January while Foxconn started shipping CDMA iPhones in December.
In the past, large mobile operators like China’s China Telecom and India’s Reliance and Tata Indicom have been
to be in talks with Apple to launch the CDMA iPhone . While it sure looks plausible in China where the GSM iPhone 4 is already available, we do have our reservations about India where even the
is strangely yet to arrive. Although there is a chance that Apple could launch the GSM and CDMA iPhone 4 in India at the same time.
If you are from China, India, South Korea or Japan then we would love to find out if you would be interested in buying a CDMA iPhone , so please let us know in the comment section below.
