App Developers Release Exclusive Gaming Applications Ahead Of iPad Launch

The iPad as a gaming platform is likely to be a highly thriving ecosystem. The reasons are not hard to find –
are among the most downloaded apps on the iPhone and with the larger pixel real estate and better controls, it is likely to be an even greater success on the iPad. So there is a heightened level of anticipation among app developers as they get ready to unveil their new releases to their customers when the iPad launches in the markets in a few more hours. Here is a snapshot of what you can expect to see at the time of the launch:

Electronic Arts has launched five new games designed for the iPad : Need for Speed SHIFT, TETRIS, SCRABBLE, Command & Conquer Red Alert and Mirror's Edge. The last game has been developed exclusively for the iPad. EA has its games priced between $7.99 and $14.99.
French game developer GameLoft has announced the launch of eight iPad-specific games. These include N.O.V.A. Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance, Modern Combat: Sandstorm, Dungeon Hunter, Asphalt 5, UNO, NFL 2010, Let’s Golf!, and Real Football 2010
Popular iPhone games developer Ngmoco has announced the release of seven games for the iPad platform which includes GodFinger, We Rule, Charadium, Flick Fishing, NBA Hotshots, Warpgate, and CastleCraft
Warner Bros. is launching a new game for iPad users titled Sherlock Holmes: Mysteries
Besides these, there are also new entrants like Big Fish Games who have launched an adventure game titled Amazon: Hidden Expedition. Also, ambitious app developers like OpenFeint are releasing massively multiplayer online role playing games like Aurora Feint 3 for the iPad.
Apple is known to have approved close to 2000 new apps for the iPad and according to mobile app analytics company, Flurry, close to 22% of these apps are games. We expect an exciting ecosystem in the making with the launch of iPad today.
