Google Makes Discovering Local Businesses Easy With ‘Near Me Now’

To access this feature from Google's website, users will have to turn their location setting on. Tapping on the '
' link offers a list of businesses categorized as Restaurants, Coffee Shops,etc. These results are pulled from Google's Local listings which is complete with contact information, directions and reviews. '

Announcing this on the Google Mobile blog, the company writes:
“”Near me now” was designed to address two user problems. First, we wanted to make it fast and easy to find out more about a place in your immediate vicinity, whether you're standing right in front of a business or if it's just a short walk away.
Second, we wanted to make searching for popular categories of nearby places really simple.”
Google says that this new feature is presently available only for users in the US. However, if you are outside the US, you may try the feature by following these steps:
Open Safari and visit Google.com
You might be redirected to your local Google website. On the footer of the page, click on the '
