Last week we had written about leaked tech specifications of Nexus One. We had also mentioned that the date of launch could be on January 5. This was confirmed by T-Mobile earlier this week in an internal communication document which suggested that the carrier would be partnering with Google for the mobile phone that launches on January 5.
Following this, we have been seeing a lot of other news pieces that corroborate the initial rumor. But the biggest among them is about the phone's pricing plans. From leaked screenshots that folks at Gizmodo have got hold of, here is what we know about the price:
Nexus One with 2 year T-Mobile Contract : $179.99
Unlocked Nexus One (unsubsidized) : $529.99
The two year T-Mobile contract comes at $79.99 per month which includes unlimited texting and internet surfing with 500 talk minutes. Users planning an early contract termination (inside 120 days) will have to pay the subsidy difference of $350 or return the handset.
With less than a week to go, there is still a lot of unanswered questions about the launch. And knowing Google, they would only want to keep it this way for the buzz to stay. The Android Press Gathering is scheduled to happen just hours before the Consumer Electronics Shows gets underway. This is pretty similar to the way Apple
back in 2007.It will be interesting to see the amount of buzz it can generate.
