Pepsi’s ‘AMP UP Before Your Score’ iPhone App Comes Under Severe Criticism

The iPhone application works by categorizing women into 24 different types and once the iPhone app user identifies the kind of girl he is after, the iPhone app gives him 'tips' on getting her to sleep with him. It also offers help in finding nearby hotel rooms and other 'facts' that might impress girls of the particular kind. All this notwithstanding, the app also encourages users to post 'successful conquests' on Facebook and Twitter to share it with friends.
The iPhone app has come under severe criticism not only for the disgraceful portrayal of women, but also insulting the intelligence of the common male. The AMP iPhone app has clearly bombed, not just because it failed to pick up as was envisaged, but also because Pepsi now stands to lose a huge chunk of female patrons of its brand.
Pepsi seems to have realized the goof up a tad too late. In a message posted on the official AMP Twitter account, the company writes:
“Our app tried 2 show the humorous lengths guys go 2 pick up women. We apologize if it’s in bad taste & appreciate your feedback. #pepsifail”
