Ocean Observations has come up with a concept video of how a homescreen expose feature would work on the iPhone that can let you reach an iPhone app on the ninth page simply with just two taps.
When you press the Home button, you are shown up to nine pages of homescreen in the form of a grid. So, now to reach the ninth page, you only have to tap over the corresponding grid to view the iPhone apps and launch them.
Please note that this is just a concept and no one is actually working on this one. Besides, while it certainly does look cool, do we actually need it?
As Greg from MobileCrunch observes, ”
It seems to me like the primary use would be launching a specific app; if that’s the case, why not just use search – which can already be tied to the home button?
I also didn't find it too practical as it is difficult to figure out an iPhone app in the homescreen thumbnails as the iPhone app icons are very small. I think the simple approach to handle this problem is to allow users to organize iPhone apps in categories or folders. Jailbreak iPhone app aptly called
to organize their iPhone apps in categories.
What do you think? Did you like the iPhone homescreen expose concept? Please let us know in the comments.
